When Adam asked Ally
Adam got in touch knowing that he’d created the perfect ring for Ally. He knew he wanted the session to fit the following criteria: they met working in politics so it needed to play into that, he didn’t want her to suspect what was coming so it had to be somewhere they’d likely go anyway, and it needed to be visually spectacular.
To me, the choice was obvious, lower senate park. They could go for a golden hour stroll before dinner, just happen to bump into a photographer who was there taking sunset photos of the capitol, and then he’d get down on one knee. That’s exactly what happened.
I told Adam where I wanted him to stop, and when he did he pulled a beautiful red box from his pocket, with an even more beautiful surprise inside, that stunning ring he’d worked on with his son and the jeweler he knew and trusted. That’s when Ally realized, I wasn’t a tourist, and her life was about to change. With one of the most enthusiastic “yes” shouts I’ve ever heard, they were engaged.
I documented this moment and all the love that poured into it and out of them, and then we went for a walk around Capital Hill to finish their engagement photos. What a remarkable and beautiful moment for these two who found each other while working on things they’re passionate about and share love and interest in.
